Your suggestion of 'exit corridors through the snow' is a good one. But do you think the Park Service would care to do something like that for the buffalo? They're supposed to take care of these animals but, no, they're sending these animals by the truckload to slaughter instead.

I was there when this was happening. With the unnatural act of plowing the roads, the park service has created an unnaturally high snow barrier. I suggest the park service start including some exit corridors through the snow for even the youngest buffalo to get off the road. If this was present perhaps the mother and baby could have at least left the road and died in peace or perhaps survived. Some of the weakened bison from this winter looked trapped within the confines of the snow tunneled roads.

Human beings are too arrogant to live with God's other creations. We think we are 'it' so, we kill everything that's in our way in the name of progress and the almighty dollar. We rape and plunder this beautiful earth of her riches on a daily basis and it is still not enough. One of these days, Mother Nature will have had enough of what we are doing to her and teach us a good lesson that we will not soon forget.

We all belong to this land I call our Mother. Yet we continue to play 'god' in name of 'whatever'. I am saddened that even in this day an age we continue to make excuses, poor one's at that, as to why WE ARE JUSTIFIED in killing grandmothers creatures. This world continues to disrespsect this land and the living creatures in it. Grandmother will clean house. It is too sad so many cannot see this.

I appreciate all those who continue to fight and work to open the eyes of those that cannot see.

Jim,
I just want to say thank you for your support of buffalo and Yellowstone.
I am reading your essays, I just discovered. Wonderful and educating reading.

I have an idea for getting more support. There is company called Blue Buffalo. They have really healthy dog food.
The Blue is owners dog's name and the buffalo is for strenght?//I guess.
They have printed blue buffalo on the food cans and bags.
Maybe someone can contact their PR people and check if they would be willing to sponsor support for BFC. The use the buffalo on their labels.

I'm surprised they euthanized the calf; I'm not surprised this happened, though. As the days went on, I had heard that they didn't look nearly as good as they do in this photograph.

So much for that smile on my face.

What grass? Those bastards working for the Park Service have no compassion or common sense. I am saddened by the death of that poor calf.
